Texas Women's Swimming: Meet Sadie Buckley, the Top Recruit for Class of 2027 (2025)

Get ready for some exciting news in the world of swimming! The University of Texas has just secured an incredible athlete for their 2027-28 season.

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps, a dedicated sponsor of SwimSwam's College Recruiting Channel, is thrilled to celebrate this momentous occasion. Swimming in college is a dream come true for many, and we're here to honor these aspiring athletes and their incredible journeys.

Meet Sadie Buckley, a junior at Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Virginia. She has verbally committed to join the University of Texas Longhorns, starting in the 2027-28 academic year. Sadie's excitement is palpable as she shares her gratitude:

"I am beyond thrilled to announce my commitment to the University of Texas, Austin! I couldn't have done it without the support of my family, Coach Pete, and my teammates at NCAP. A special shoutout to Coach Carol, Coach Mitch, and the entire Texas coaching staff. I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and I can't wait to become a Longhorn! HOOK EM!! đŸ§¡đŸ¤˜"

And here's where it gets even more impressive: Sadie is not the only top talent joining the Longhorns in 2027. They've also secured a commitment from #8 Daisy Collins, making it a powerful duo for the upcoming season.

Sadie Buckley swims with Nation's Capital Swim Club year-round, and her skills are exceptional. She's ranked #3 on our Way Too Early list of top girls swimmers in the high school class of 2027. Her times in the 200 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM are truly impressive, and she's already qualified for last year's NCAA Division I Women's Championships in all three events. Sadie's versatility shines through with her Summer Nationals and Summer Juniors cuts in various strokes.

In December 2024, at just 15 years old, Sadie won the 400 IM at the U.S. Open with a time of 4:07.87, solidifying her place among the top 25 all-time 15-16 girls in the United States. She continued her success at the 2025 VHSL Class 6 Championships, winning state titles in the 500 free and 200 IM. Her personal bests kept dropping, and she dominated at the Potomac Valley Senior Short Course Championships and the NCSA Spring Championships.

Sadie's long-course season was just as impressive, and she wrapped it up at Greensboro Futures with personal bests in multiple events. Her times would have secured her spots in the 'A' finals of the 200 back and 400 IM and the 'B' final of the 200 IM at the 2025 SEC Championships. She's a force to be reckoned with in the pool.

Here's a breakdown of Sadie's best times:

  • 200 back - 1:51.99
  • 200 IM - 1:56.45
  • 400 IM - 4:07.87
  • 500 free - 4:44.85
  • 200 free - 1:46.72
